I really dig the CT6 and can see getting into one in a year or two when I get my next car. Thing is, I’m still under 50 and not in the target demographic. Is Cadillac still considered an old man’s car, or is Johan changing that? It seems like a good alternative to perceived BMW/Audi snootiness and should have comparable performance/quality. By then the TT V8 should be out. Thoughts?

Oh... HEYYY NSA - I'M BUYING A MURRICAN CAR FOR MY NEXT RIDE

Cadillac is bending over backwards trying to lower their median buyer age. You are exactly their target market - person which can afford to buy German but might go for a Cadillac instead, and is not purchasing their last car before they die.

Luxury cars are inherently old man’s Cars. Enjoy your Caddie and balls to those who say otherwise.

I’d say don’t give a f about the badge and get whatever suits you.

If someone really cared that much about what other people think, they’d probably get the BMW/Audi. I’m of the opinion that if you have the means to buy a car *you* really want, screw what other people have to say.

If you like the car, buy it. It doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks. I’d be all over a CT6 if I could afford one.

You will be receiving your AARP cards in the mail any day now. Medicare signup is down the road but they are looking for someone else to play cards on Wednesdays at the senior center. Once you buy a Cadillac there is no turning back.

Not any more than a German competitor is an old man’s car. One is generally older to be able to buy these things when new/newer, or to have an older one in nice condition. All but the tuned models aren’t very sporty or exciting to drive, either, not aimed at young men.

I don’t think Johan is behind it though, I don’t see him doing much other than importing a dopey naming convention from Infiniti.

I thought I read something here a while back about Johan changing the focus of their marketing to a younger buyer, and backing it up with new product.

I bought my first Cadillac (slightly used CTS wagon) when I was 35. On my third, and I find them a great alternative to the BMW, and, increasingly in my age bracket (35-45) Audi-everything. Just as good (often much better) as a driver’s car, with a little more flash and style.

If you like it - buy it. Who cares what other people think?

Right on. More amusing (probably) is the fact I drive a black 2008 Town Car now, but in my defense its got 18" FR500 wheels, window tint, Blaupunkt audio, Flowmaster dual exhaust, and soon ported heads and hotter cams. I love the car, but I'm getting tired of people trying to flag me thinking I'm an airport limo or Uber driver. LoL

I bought a Miata in 2004, when I was 22, and before it had become as widely accepted amongst the general gearhead population. If it was a bit chilly out, I’d flip the top down, and wore a stupid grey herringbone wool driving cap with built-in flip down ear warmers, that I bought at a thrift store.

I caught neverending shit for that car and hat and I didn’t give a flying fuck. I liked it.

Everyone likes to say that, and I am sure it is happening with the greatest generation shuffling off to the great parking lot in the sky, but I don’t know if DeNysschen has done anything to make it happen. I don’t think Caddy’s average age could have increased over 20-30 years ago.

Does that apply to a CTS-V also?

I’m an OG who defies the norm in that I’ve always like sports cars and imports . I know 3 people with CT-Vs, 1 in his mid 40s, the other two both in their mid to late 60s with one retired. I think with that average its still a pretty old group. That roughly averages at 59 yrs old.
